It goes without saying that we’re incredibly passionate about eyes at Cameron Optometry. At least one of our team is always in the midsts of some form of eye-related studies, looking for ways to gain additional experience, furthering their learnings on an ongoing basis.

Our clinical lead optometrist, Gillian Bruce has just come to the end of the second year of her MSc in Primary Care Ophthalmology. Not only has she completed another year of this three-year, part-time masters, she achieved a distinction in her studies and was the top performing student in the year. Well done Gillian.

Delivered by University of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the course has been developed in partnership with NHS Education for Scotland (NES). It is aimed primarily at optometrists seeking formal postgraduate training in community-based clinical care, as well as medical and surgical trainees entering specialty training ophthalmology.

Our optometrists from Cameron Optometry are regularly called upon to deliver lectures, provide their opinions as expert witnesses and speak at industry events. The team is recognised as having expertise in many areas of optical care and are committed to keeping ahead in the industry. Attending conferences, obtaining additional qualifications, gaining expertise in other eye-related specialisms, such as surgery, is part of our commitment to ensure we provide the highest level of eye care to all our patients, which include many with incredibly complex needs.

We are incredibly proud of her efforts and are all benefitting from the added knowledge that she has a result.

If you would like to make an appointment with one of our optometrists, you can do so via our online booking system available on our homepage, by calling 0131 225 2235 or by emailing vision@cameronoptom.com.
